BOARDING AT B&B’s B&B

 

It can be tough to find people you trust that not only understand your bird, but that you don’t have to worry they will cause actual damage to your bird and their behavior. When we have the space, Birds and Beaks does board birds on a temporary basis as an extra revenue stream for the rescue.

 

BOARDING REQUIREMENTS

1.) Birds must be healthy and have seen the vet within the last 6 months with a clean bill of health and no physical symptoms of disease or illness. We do help with special needs birds, but our Founder may take them home with her instead of keeping them at the facility. Your vet can email info@birdsandbeaks.org with their recommendation for allowing your bird into the facility.

2.) We’d love it if you book at least 2 weeks in advance. Without the ability to plan ahead we may not have space for your bird/birds for boarding. If you’re in a “spot” and need to board quickly, we’ll make decisions on that on a case by case basis.

3.) Boarding fees are paid in advance. If your bird is staying for 7 days, we expect payment when you drop them off. If you need to extend your time, we require payment when you communicate the need for extension, if approved.

4.) Sometimes, we may not have a cage large enough for big birds to board. We are usually pretty full at the rescue, so in the event we don’t have any large or extra large cages, we may require you to bring a cage for your bird to be able to accommodate their stay.

5.) If your bird requires specific toys, it’s best for you to bring toys for your bird for their stay.

6.) We can feed the healthy B&B Diet, or we can feed your diet if you provide it. Your choice.

7.) Birds who board are able to get out and onto play stands and hang out with volunteers and team members if they’re handleable. If not, we still talk and and interact with them, give them healthy treats and affection and silliness, but we may not handle them if they are adverse to it.

8.) If you would like grooming services (nails and beak) while your bird is here, you may request that for an additional charge.

9.) To book in advance around major holidays (Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years), we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your space. Because we’re so full all the time, those boarding slots go fast. The remaining 50% will be due when you drop off your birds.
