Bubba Green Bird

Bubba GreenBird

Panama Amazon Parrot

Bubba GreenBird is a 26 year old male Panama Amazon with standard green coloring and a strong, expressive personality typical of the species. He is intelligent, talented, and highly vocal, with an extensive vocabulary and a deep love for music. Bubba especially enjoys musicals and will happily sing along, often reacting enthusiastically to clapping or singing voices.

Bubba is in excellent physical health and has received thorough veterinary care, including advanced diagnostics. He does not pluck or self mutilate and maintains beautiful feathers. One toe was injured earlier in life and no longer bends, but this does not impact his daily activity.

Bubba thrives on structure, routine, and a calm environment. He is extremely hormonal and prone to over bonding, which can lead to sudden lunging or biting when he becomes overstimulated. Because of this, he is not a bird for casual handling or inexperienced adopters. He does best when moved using a perch or towel rather than bare hands and is more comfortable when boundaries are consistently respected. Covered hands are generally tolerated, while bare hands, bare feet, and close face level interaction can trigger aggressive responses.

Despite these challenges, Bubba is not fearful and is very engaged with his surroundings. He enjoys foraging activities, puzzle toys, bells, balls, leather items, and anything involving undoing knots. He is an excellent forager and enjoys shredding cardboard. He loves vegetables, especially orange bell peppers, and adores almonds. His diet has been carefully maintained with a variety of fresh foods, pellets, sprouts, and legumes.

Bubba prefers a quieter household where stimulation is carefully managed. He tends to become excited easily and can escalate quickly, but in calm settings he is content to sing, observe, and relax as a perch companion. He has successfully participated in activities like travel backpack outings and short hikes when properly managed.

Bubba would do best with a very experienced Amazon or large parrot handler who understands hormonal behavior, body language, and safety protocols. He is capable of forming strong bonds and can be incredibly sweet, but he requires someone who can balance affection with firm boundaries and environmental management.

Bubba is a special bird with remarkable talents and a big presence. He is looking for an advanced, patient home that can appreciate him for who he is and provide the calm, structured life he needs to thrive.

***Information that is universal to every bird:

1) Birds are typically not family animals. They usually choose a favorite and at best you can expect them to tolerate everyone else.

2) Birds are not great with kids, dogs, other birds, and are not cuddly with everyone, nor can they really be trained to be. Birds are flock animals, who are social creatures that need to be in a communal area where they can see the rest of the family, or you may eperience serious vocalization and behavior problems. We’ve never met a bird who is great with kids, but we have met kids who are respectful of birds.

3) Birds bite. But, you shouldn’t “take the bite”. If you’re getting bit, you haven’t earned the trust of the bird, and are pushing the bird past his/her limits. You must figure out what the bird needs, and make what you’re asking of the bird more attractive than what they are already doing.

4) Birds are not “dominance” based creatures. Your only option for birds is to earn their trust. If they are, say…on top of a cage and don’t want to come down, that is where they feel safest, not a dominance thing. They are not trying to exert dominance, they just don’t want to come down. Your job as a parrot owner is to figure out what you can do to help them trust you, and whatever you are asking to be more attractive than what they are already doing.

5) NEVER send money over the internet for adoption with any individual or organization for the adoption of an animal you have not met in person. That is almost always a scam.
