Meet Gabby

Gabby would like you to admire her. Outside the cage, please. The stuff inside is hers.

She’s a blue Quaker parrot, also called a Monk Parakeet, who is approximately 7–8 years old. She’s sweet, pretty laid-back, and happy to join in the nonsense once she’s out spending time with you. She likes attention and being talked to—and yes, baby talk counts.

Gabby is protective of her cage and belongings. Give her space there and let her come out before expecting the same sweet interaction you see in her video. She doesn’t seem to have a clear preference for men or women.

Quaker ownership is restricted in some locations. Please check the rules where you live before applying.

How she got here

Her previous caregiver could no longer provide the care the birds needed, so Gabby came to us with several other birds from the same home. We’re still getting to know her, but she’s already given us plenty to love.

Think you might be a good fit for Gabby?

How it works: Apply online → interview → home walkthrough video and approval gets you an invite to the rescue → visit and handling in Battle Creek, MI. and, if all goes well, you’ll be approved to adopt that day.

The honest stuff (true for every bird):

  • Birds usually pick a favorite person and tolerate everyone else.

  • They’re not great with kids or dogs, and they need to be where the family is (not in a segregated room away from everyone).

  • Birds bite. If you’re getting bit, you haven’t earned their trust yet.

  • It’s about trust, not dominance.

Scam warning: Never send money for an animal you haven’t met in person. We never ship birds.
