Meet Jake and Karen

Jake and Karen are a bonded pair of approximately 3-year-old Sun Conures looking for a home together.

Jake is a little “pick me, choose me, love me.” He’s the more trusting, snuggly one and is happy to be part of what you’re doing.

Karen would like to speak to your manager. 😂 She’s a little more nervous and needs time to get comfortable, but both birds have been hanging out with me, as you can see in their video and photos.

Their previous family reported that Jake enjoys rock music and that they like shredding toys. We’re still getting to know them, and their next family will get to discover plenty more about who they are.

So, they are Sun Conures. They are LOUD. Their calls are high-pitched, and their next home needs to be comfortable with that. Please watch their video with the sound on (and that's not even the obnoxious call they do) before deciding they might be your birds.

They need a patient home that gives them time to build trust, respects their space, and enjoys having two busy birds involved in daily life. They’re a package deal and will be placed together as companions only. No breeding, with an agreement not to separate.

How they got here

The human who took Jake and Karen in for family wasn’t a good match for them, so he brought them to the rescue to protect them and help them find their happily ever after.

Think you might be a good fit for Jake and Karen?

How it works: Apply online → interview → home walkthrough video and approval gets you an invite to the rescue → visit and handling in Battle Creek, MI. and, if all goes well, you’ll be approved to adopt that day.

The honest stuff (true for every bird):

  • Birds usually pick a favorite person and tolerate everyone else.

  • They’re not great with kids or dogs, and they need to be where the family is (not in a segregated room away from everyone).

  • Birds bite. If you’re getting bit, you haven’t earned their trust yet.

  • It’s about trust, not dominance.

Scam warning: Never send money for an animal you haven’t met in person. We never ship birds.
