Green Cheek Conure Pair
Meet Merlin & Lafae
Green Cheek Conures • Age: 5 Years • Bonded Pair, Big Personalities
Merlin and Lafae are a charming, goofy, and totally mismatched-in-the-best-way pair of Green Cheek Conures. At five years old, they’ve grown up together since babyhood and are a strongly bonded duo who must be adopted as a pair.
Merlin is a classic green cheek—shy, quiet, and happiest when he’s chewing cardboard or quietly observing from the sidelines. Lafae, on the other hand, is a pineapple high red mutation with a love for dancing, music, and dramatic flair. She’s the hide-and-seek champion of the household (yes, she once made it into the oven—don’t worry, she’s fine) and definitely keeps everyone on their toes.
These two are healthy, fully flighted, and eat a varied diet of pellets, seeds, and fresh fruits and veggies, with the occasional noodle or human snack for fun. They’re not stick-trained and don’t love fingers, but they’ll step up using an arm or a gentle scoop. They can get cage-aggressive, but once they’re out and about, that sassiness fades fast.
They strongly dislike vacuums and brooms and seem to prefer the company of women, though they’ll hang with the guys too. They’re food motivated, silly, sweet, and full of personality.
Merlin and Lafae are being surrendered due to major life changes—their person’s fiancé has joined the military, and they know frequent moves and instability aren’t ideal for birds. This decision wasn’t made lightly, and they’d love updates from whoever is lucky enough to adopt this dynamic duo.
If you’re looking for a pair that brings both heart and hilarity to the home, Merlin and Lafae might just be your perfect match.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
***Information that is universal to every bird:
1) Birds are typically not family animals. They usually choose a favorite and at best you can expect them to tolerate everyone else.
2) Birds are not great with kids, dogs, other birds, and are not cuddly with everyone, nor can they really be trained to be. Birds are flock animals, who are social creatures that need to be in a communal area where they can see the rest of the family, or you may eperience serious vocalization and behavior problems. We’ve never met a bird who is great with kids, but we have met kids who are respectful of birds.
3) Birds bite. But, you shouldn’t “take the bite”. If you’re getting bit, you haven’t earned the trust of the bird, and are pushing the bird past his/her limits. You must figure out what the bird needs, and make what you’re asking of the bird more attractive than what they are already doing.
4) Birds are not “dominance” based creatures. Your only option for birds is to earn their trust. If they are, say…on top of a cage and don’t want to come down, that is where they feel safest, not a dominance thing. They are not trying to exert dominance, they just don’t want to come down. Your job as a parrot owner is to figure out what you can do to help them trust you, and whatever you are asking to be more attractive than what they are already doing.
5) NEVER send money over the internet for adoption with any individual or organization for the adoption of an animal you have not met in person. That is almost always a scam.
