Meet Subie & Turbo
Cockatiels • Ages: Approx. 4–5 Years • Bonded Pair, Beautifully Independent
Subie and Turbo are a bonded pair of cockatiels who have been together since they were just babies—adopted as the last two left in the pet store cage and never separated since. Around 4 to 5 years old, these two are healthy, fully flighted, and deeply connected to each other.
Subie, the smaller of the two with a little white spot on their head, is the chattier and more curious one. At one time, Subie was making great progress with stepping up and interacting more closely with people, but as the pair matured, they bonded more tightly with each other and grew more hesitant around humans. Turbo, the larger and more reserved of the two, prefers observing from a distance and is not fond of being handled—but does enjoy free flight and exploring on their own terms.
While they don’t seek out handling, they do enjoy coming out of their cage, flying around, and playing with shreddable toys, bells, and anything they can dismantle. Millet is a shared favorite, of course. They’re cautious around hands in their space and will need a patient home that respects their independence and doesn’t expect instant affection.
These two are not pluckers, have no health issues, and are on a standard diet with millet treats. Because they’re so bonded, they must be adopted together and will thrive best in a quiet home that values their companionship as they are—beautiful, independent, and full of personality in their own subtle ways.
If you’ve got room in your heart and home for a pair of feathered introverts with potential to grow in the right environment, Subie and Turbo just might be the perfect fit.

Cockatiels are SO underrated.
***Information that is universal to every bird:
1) Birds are typically not family animals. They usually choose a favorite and at best you can expect them to tolerate everyone else.
2) Birds are not great with kids, dogs, other birds, and are not cuddly with everyone, nor can they really be trained to be. Birds are flock animals, who are social creatures that need to be in a communal area where they can see the rest of the family, or you may eperience serious vocalization and behavior problems. We’ve never met a bird who is great with kids, but we have met kids who are respectful of birds.
3) Birds bite. But, you shouldn’t “take the bite”. If you’re getting bit, you haven’t earned the trust of the bird, and are pushing the bird past his/her limits. You must figure out what the bird needs, and make what you’re asking of the bird more attractive than what they are already doing.
4) Birds are not “dominance” based creatures. Your only option for birds is to earn their trust. If they are, say…on top of a cage and don’t want to come down, that is where they feel safest, not a dominance thing. They are not trying to exert dominance, they just don’t want to come down. Your job as a parrot owner is to figure out what you can do to help them trust you, and whatever you are asking to be more attractive than what they are already doing.
5) NEVER send money over the internet for adoption with any individual or organization for the adoption of an animal you have not met in person. That is almost always a scam.
